Meeting of Presidential Council for Education and Science

Mr. Rustam N. Minnikhanov, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, held the meeting of Presidential Council for Education and Science with the involvement of the Organizing Committee for the Year of Science and Technology.

On the Science Day, February 8, the meeting of the Presidential Council for Education and Science took place at the Kazan City Hall with the participation of Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

“Today, on the Russian Science Day, we are holding the meeting of the Presidential Council and the first meeting of the Organizing Committee for the Year of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation, announced by Mr. Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation. We often say that a powerful scientific and technological capacities, along with the developed of industrial-processing base and extensive commodities-based industries, are one of the most crucial competitive advantages of our republic. Tatarstan is among the leaders in terms of the total number of scientific institutions in the Volga Federal District. Last year, as part of the participation in the “Science” National Project in Tatarstan, our universities gained the right to establish a world-class scientific center in the field of Rational Exploitation of Liquid Hydrocarbons of the Planet. More than 600 million rubles were raised for such purposes as the expansion, reconstruction and re-equipment of the instrumental base of the Kazan Federal University, Federal Research Center “Kazan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Science and Kazan National Research Technical University named after A.N. Tupolev-KAI”, - the President noted. Furthermore, R. Minnikhanov added that in order to successfully hold the Year of Science and Technology in the republic, the Organizing Committee was created under the chairmanship of Mr. Alexey V. Pesoshin, the Prime Minister.

During this event, the honored guests visited the exhibition, dedicated to scientific achievements of Mr. Nikolai Chetaev, the founder of KAI, as well as achievements of the Department of Rocket Engines of KAI used to be headed by Mr. Valentin P. Glushko, the Chief Designer of the RD-1HZ Rocket Engine.

By the decree of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Stanislav E. Tarasevich, Professor of the Department of Heat and Power Engineering of KNRTU-KAI, was awarded the medal of the Republic of Tatarstan “For Valiant Labor” as a result of large input into the development of science and education and the training of highly qualified specialists.
