Prof. Albert Gilmutdinov Reelected as KNRTU-KAI Rector

Mr. Gilmutdinov wins with 66.4 per cent of votes.

 

The elections, which were held on Monday, March 26, in the assembly hall of the 1st Academic Building of the KNRTU-KAI, were officially named "The conference of workers and students of the University for the election of the rector of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "Kazan National Research Technical University named after A. N. Tupolev – KAI"

Three candidates applied for the position: Prof. Albert Gilmutdinov, ScD in Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Acting Rector of KNRTU-KAI, Prof. Oleg Morozov, ScD in Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Radiophotonics and Microwave Technologies and Prof. Svetlana Yudina, ScD in Economic sciences, Associate Professor, Director of Almetyevsk branch of KNRTU-KAI.

The work began with the presentation of programs by candidates and answers to delegates' questions. According to the alphabetical order, the first word was taken by Prof. Gilmutdinov, who told about the results of his 5-year work as the rector, as well as on the priority tasks for the next term. Prof. Oleg Morozov made a number of proposals for the modernization of the university, and then withdrew his candidacy due to some health problems. Then Prof. Svetlana Yudina took the floor. She also presented a program for the development of the branch network of the university.

 

 

In total, 201 delegates from 210 elected were registered at the conference. There were 198 ballots in the ballot box, 7 were found to be invalid. As a result of a secret ballot, Prof. Albert Gilmutdinov won 166 votes (84 percent), Prof. Svetlana Yudina won 25 votes. The conference recommended to elect the rector for a five-year term.

"I wholeheartedly thank the staff for such a strong support! It costs a lot! I'm proud to be a kaist. All achievements are our common work. I always believed in the potential of KAI and the people of the university," said Mr. Gilmutdinov.
