The Engineering Lyceum Hosted the Swiss Delegation

22.08.2019

One School – One Country: the WorldSkills Competition participants met with engineering and cultural parts of Kazan.

The WorldSkills Kazan 2019 participants from Switzerland visited the Engineering Lyceum-boarding school of KNRTU-KAI.  The delegation included 33 young professionals in 10 competencies and their mentors.

Note that the lyceum is a member of the educational program to increase the prestige of working professions "One School – One Country".

Dinar Gabidullin, The Director of the Engineering Lyceum, welcomed the delegation along with students and staff: “Your arrival is a great honor for us! During the tour we would like to introduce you to the culture of our republic and, of course, to our lyceum. ” Guests were greeted as it should be- with Tatar dances and a Russian loaf.

At the beginning of the tour, Dinar Damirovich showed the guests a presentation of the Engineering Lyceum, especially noting the success of the lyceum students at WorldSkills competitions. Further, the delegation was divided into four groups in order to examine the project area of the lyceum as detailed as possible.

The delegation was also able to get acquainted with the history of the indigenous peoples of the republic during an interactive presentation: with national dances, the Sabantuy holiday, and traditional cuisine.

Laurent Seppey, team leader of Swiss team noted that acquaintance with working specialties from school is a big plus for pupils: “It's great that children can try themselves in various professions. In Switzerland, schoolchildren from 14-15 years old learn working specialties in practice: they spend four days at enterprises and study at school for one day. At the end of compulsory secondary education, the young man already knows exactly what he wants to do next. ”

It’s interesting that the Swiss delegation throughout the history of WorldSkills carries a big bell with it - they say that it brings the participants good luck in the competition.
