A new phase of cooperation between KNRTU-KAI and NPU

Opening of the Russian Language Center and Launching a Joint Bachelor's Degree Program “Aircraft Engines”

On October 29, the official solemn online ceremony of opening the Russian Language Center at Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU, China) took place. This is a joint project of KNRTU-KAI and NPU. The ceremony is also timed to coincide with the launch of a joint Bachelor's Degree Program Aircraft Engines, developed according to the 2 + 2 schema.

The ceremony was attended by the rectors Prof. Albert Gilmutdinov and Prof. Wang Jinson, vice rectors Dr. Alexei Lopatin and Dr. Zhang Weihong, as well as other counterparts from both universities.

“I have been to NPU twice, and I can say this is an outstanding university for sure. We are satisfied with our professional relationship. We have jointly launched a new Bachelor's program, and we are actively expanding scientific and technical cooperation. Our partnership has a huge potential, and we wish to fully implement it”, said Albert Gilmutdinov.

“I would like to address the first year students of our joint program. Let me congratulate you on your admission and give you a piece of advice - study hard! Use this opportunity to get to know Russian culture and speak about Chinese culture. And of course, I would like to thank my colleagues from KNRTU-KAI for their support”, said Prof. Wang Jinsong, Rector NPU.

Mr. Mai Tian, a representative of the freshmen of the joint academic program, made his speech: “I’m very happy that I was accepted, and I also want to thank the academic staff for sharing their knowledge with us. Let this program be a proof of true friendship between Russia and China.”

The universities signed joint agreements on the establishment of the center and the implementation of a joint educational program during the visit of the Chinese delegation to Kazan in August 2019.

In the coming academic year, 30 students from China have already started their training on this program. The NPU authorities set hopes on these students: the group even has its own name Ling Yun, which can be translated from Chinese as Striving for Higher Goals. These students will study for the first two years (within 1st-4th semesters) at NPU, and for the last two years (within 5th-8th semesters) at KNRTU-KAI. The students, who will successfully complete their studies and pass the Final State Examination as part of the academic program, will receive Bachelor's degree form both universities.

The main goal of the Russian Language Center is to organize the study of the Russian language by NPU students and employees. In addition, the activities of the center will include the following tasks:

- Organizing the exchange of academic programs for teaching the Russian language,

- Promoting the scientific cooperation between the Parties,

- Facilitating the exchange of the academic staff between the Parties,

- Supporting students studying in China and Russia,

- Carrying out various Chinese and Russian cultural and educational activities.

Background information: KNRTU-KAI has been cooperating with Northwestern Polytechnical University since 2005. This event is one of the stages of a joint project to establish Chinese-Russian Engineering Institute.
