For the world of scientists, Alsou Shakirova is a relatively very young specialist. However, she has already accomplished so much that it brings out the respect from her more experienced colleagues: twice a scholarship holder of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Government of the Russian Federation, the best graduate of KNRTU-KAI 2019, multiple winner of specialized competitions and olympiads, participant of international conferences, author of research papers, patent holder, and currently she is the assistant professor at the Department of Industrial and Environmental Safety, Candidate of Technical Sciences.
“While studying under the PhD program in the field of “Safety in Emergencies”, I realized that I did not have enough knowledge on fiber-optic sensor measuring systems to defend my PhD thesis. Therefore, I decided to enter the Institute of Radio Electronics, Photonics and Digital Technologies to gain the necessary expertise, and successfully completed my master’s degree in 2019, and next year I came to the defense. My work is at the intersection of two specialties: Devices and Methods of Control of Natural Environment, Substances, Materials and Products and Safety in Emergences.
“To ensure the safety of hydraulic structures, as well as to identify and predict the occurrence of emergency incidents on water objects, it was necessary to introduce a system of monitoring, assessment and forecast of changes in the status of water bodies, to develop and modernize the state observation network. After analysis of all kinds of forecasting tools and methods, I came to conclusion that the best option would be the implementation of a fiber-optic system. Fortunately, there is the Department of Radio Photonics and Microwave Technologies at KAI, where the studies of fiber-optic sensor measuring systems based on distributed Bragg structures are carried out.” - explains Alsou Shakirova.
Besides her work at the department, including direct mentoring of bachelor degree students, Alsou Shakirova is the scientific secretary of the United Dissertation Research Council “Safety in Emergencies” situations (Engineering Sciences), and a member of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of KNRTU-KAI.
